The Fanafzar group, an Iranian game studio is taking it to the next level and introducing their already famous game series “Shadow Blade” on the next-gen gaming console PS4. This is the first time for any Iranian game studio to publish a game for consoles in history.
Fanafzar developed the first shadow blade for iOS users using the unity game engine 4 years ago. The game was a huge success and it was picked as the top app of the week on Apple’s app store. After iOS they published other versions of the game including the Andriod version on Google Play. After it went on to Amazon store, OUYA, Gamestick, FireTV, nVidia Shield and on GoogleTV.
The game developers also have a PC version which is available on Steam. On deciding to launch a console version, the team came to a conclusion to choose PS4 as their next destination of publish. The team went through a series of technical developments to transform the PC version to a console based version. The company announced that the latest version of the game Shadow Blade: Reload is available on PS4 as of May 31st, 2016.
Based on a report by ITmen, the company spent months in talks with Sony in order to get the official standards to publish the game on Sony’s PS4 console. “After finishing the design and development stage of Shadow blade, it took nearly 9 months to test the game and get the official approvals from Sony,” said Amirhossein Fasihi project manager of Shadow Blade to ITmen.
It also took the team 18 months to develop the PC version from the old mobile version which is now available on Steam. “We’ve spent a lot of energy to get proper media attention for our PC Steam edition, we are also going to do the same to advertise our PS4 version,” continued Fasihi.
The Iranian made Ninja action gamed is not only successful building a game with international level standards and quality, it has also a great affect in inspiring other local game developers in Iran to scale to the international level.
