Startup Grind picked Saba Idea as the best Startup from Iran for their 2016 Startup Program. Saba Idea was picked between 1,100 applications sourced from 80 countries around the world. Only 53 teams were picked. These teams would be joining the Startup Program at the 2016 Global Conference. The conference will be held on February 23-24 in Silicon Valley at Fox Theater.

Startup Grind announced 53 inductee companies joining their startup program at the 2016 Global Conference. These 53 inductee companies selected from 1,100 application which were from 80 countries and 200+ cities around the globe. According to Startup Grind these startups represent best of the best. All the startups have visible traction, unique technology and massive markets. One thing that Startup Grind tries to emphasize is that, they all have great founding teams, including former Googlers, CERN physicists and Forbes under 30. The picked companies come from different industries from artificial intelligence to enterprise software and Internet of Things to health services.

You might wonder why Startup Grind launched this program, “We started this program after seeing many of the Accelerators and Incubators not doing much to really help companies. We really wanted to make an actual difference in the startups trajectory and leverage all of our resources and network to their advantage. Our biggest goal is for each startup to go back home with a new and improved game plan that would not have happened without the help of the program and the mentors and resources that were made available to them.” said Derek Andersen CEO and founder of Startup Grind in their blog.

There will be 3,500 entrepreneurs and 200 investors coming to this 2 day even in February. In Startup Program, startups have a chance of getting advices or funding from entrepreneurs and investors. All the selected startups would have three full access tickets, branding on-site and program, Startup Toolkit, booth space and meeting with the investors.

A Funny Fact

Google censorship

The first Startup Grind organized in Tehran nearly one and a half years ago. After that many cities came in and held their own Startup Grind event such as Isfahan, Arak, Rasht, Zanjan, Mashhad, Babol and Orumieh. So Startup Grind has its own fans in Iran. They picked Saba Idea which means they don’t have any problem with picking a startup from Iran. So why we can’t access Startup Grind website from Iran? That’s the question we want to ask from Startup Grind and Google. Right now the Startup Grind website is censored for Iran. It’s the same message that google shows us when we want to use Google Apps and some other services from Google. We think that it’s the time that google release an statement to address this issue.
