On Sunday November 8th, Fanap, the ICT Subsidiary of Pasargad Financial Group held a press conference to describe the activities of their startup accelerator, Trigup.
Trigup Startup Accelerator was officially inaugurated in June 2015, but had ran its pilot program about 6 months before.
“Trigup was created to help complete ‘the chain of innovation’ and to provide training to support the talented teams to form successful startups in the country,” said Mostafa Naghipourfar, Chief Innovation Officer of Fanap.
Naghipourfar said registration for the upcoming cycle of Trigup started a month ago. “Currently we have received 136 ideas, but the ones who are interested still have time to register their ideas for Trigup Acceleration Center until the end of the month,” Naghipourfar added.
“The priorities are with the ideas which are in ‘Fanap’s chain of value’ and are part of the 6 strategies of Fanap” he continued.
According to Naghipourfar, Payment and E-commerce, Communications and value-added services, Financial Services such as banking, exchange and insurance, Smart Health and Public Services, Integrated IT Solutions and EPC IT Projects are the 6 strategies of Fanap. He also mentioned the new areas such as Big Data and IoT.
Naghipourfar noted that Fanap’s policy is to support all the top ideas from around the country and not limited to teams from the major Iranian cities. He addressed that the success rate of startups in the world is about 3 percent, which shows the importance of training and advice from experts.
Naghipourfar talked about Game Trigup event which will be held this week from November 11th to 13th. Experts from Iranian game developing companies such as Arnatech, Arvand and Fan Afzar Sharif will attend the event as mentors and judges in this 3 day event. The goal of this event is to train the participants the latest trends of game development and business development methods.
“You can’t start a business by just having an idea. What is more important is providing training and support to better shape the idea,” said Farhadi, Executive Director of Trigup.
Farhadi predicted that 20 to 30 ideas would be accepted for the pre-accelerator program. After that the teams will participate in “Idea Ring”, which 8 of the best ideas will be selected for the 4 months acceleration program. During the cycle, the teams receive 25 million Tomans (around 8.5 thousand dollars), access to co-working space, hardware and software services and mentorship. In return Trigup takes 15 percent of the startup’s share.
Fanap is an ICT holding company which was founded in 2005. Fanap offers services such as Financial Enterprise Solutions, Transaction Processing Engines, E-Payment Networks, ICT Infrastructure, IT Outsourcing Services, Mobile Communication and value added services.
